Meet Tanya Schecter: Founder of Quoin Counselling

by | Aug 11, 2025

At Quoin Counselling, we believe that good therapy comes from lived experience and professional expertise. Tanya Schecter — founder of Quoin Counselling — brings both. She’s a therapist, a mom, a partner, and someone who’s been through the ups and downs of real life and real relationships.

Tanya works with adults, teens, couples, and families, offering a grounded, relational approach to therapy that blends heart and clinical skill. She’s trained in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), the Gottman Method, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and trauma, and helps clients navigate conflict, build trust, and create deeper, more connected relationships — starting with the one they have with themselves.

Tanya’s journey into counselling didn’t begin in a classroom — it began in the messy, beautiful reality of life. As a mother, daughter, wife (and a one-time single mom), she’s navigated divorce, blended families, intergenerational trauma, and the work of repair. These experiences shape her deep compassion and practical, non-judgmental approach with clients.

Tanya is passionate about helping people build strong relational foundations — not just in their partnerships, but in their families, communities, and sense of self. She believes that healing happens through connection, and that therapy can be a place where people learn how to show up with more honesty, courage, and compassion — for themselves and for each other.

In session, Tanya helps clients gain clarity, expand their emotional range, and develop the practical skills needed to make meaningful, lasting change. Her approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. Whether she’s supporting someone through conflict, disconnection, or a desire to grow, Tanya brings a relational lens and a deep commitment to helping people live more aligned, connected lives.

Outside the therapy room, Tanya finds restoration in yoga and in long walks with her dog Lucy — who, over time, has become something of a co-therapist herself. Clients often note Lucy’s calming presence during sessions, and her quiet, sweet energy has a way of making people feel safe and at ease.

If you’re ready to grow, repair, or reconnect, Tanya Schecter (RCC) offers a free 15-minute consultation to help you explore whether it’s the right fit. Click here to book it.
