Our Approach
Because every therapeutic relationship is different, we don’t believe in using a cookie cutter approach. That being said, we draw on many different theoretical approaches including Relational Life Therapy, Gottman, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Psychodrama, and Family Systems Theory.
Our Commitment
No matter which theory we’re applying, our focus is maintaining group safety while ensuring individual growth. Above all, you’ll find our approach is collaborative, relational, and supportive.
Why Come to Group Therapy?
- Support from others
- A sense of belonging
- To better understand how they relate to others
- Feedback
- To learn and practice skills in a safe setting
- To address a specific issue or area
Group therapy is different from individual therapy in that you:
- Are not always the focus in a session
- Give and receive feedback
- May practice skills with your peers and receive feedback from them
Group therapy is also more directed by the therapist, and may include a pre-set agenda.
What are the Benefits of Group Therapy?
People who attend group therapy often find that they get the following out of it:
Feedback from different vantage points
Skills development
A sense of belonging
A safe place to practice new ways of being
Support for improving their relationships and lives outside of therapy

“I have worked with several therapists before you and found the work we did together to be a level above. Working with you has been a great experience. Tanya, you always find the right words to help me find the perfect solution. Your wisdom, personality, professional knowledge, and patience helped me a lot. I look forward to working together again in the future. Thanks again!!!”

“Tanya brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to her work as a Counsellor. As a previously trained Life Coach, Wife and Mother, she offers solid advice, support and strength in her counselling sessions. She is a wonderful listener and lends a compassionate ear. I have found our sessions to be instructive and helpful in dealing with whatever concerns, worries or anxieties have come my way. I always look forward to my time with Tanya and by the end of our session I am always feeling more calm, capable and more prepared to cope with my challenges ahead.”
C.W., West Vancouver
“Brooke provided steady support during a transitional period of my life. I used to often expect the worst case scenario but I have now learned how to challenge my anxious thoughts and see a new perspective. Brooke helped me accept my limit of control and focus on what I can do to feel prepared and at ease. She also guided me in improving my communication skills, allowing me to share vulnerable emotions with my partner. I now feel equipped with the tools I need to move forward. I’m incredibly grateful for Brooke’s support.“
